Islands, the Pacific Islands Province is a province in Indonesia, which consists of two large islands, the island of Bangka and Billiton Island and small islands such as Pulau Lepar, Pongok Island, Island and Island Strait Mendanau Nasik, who was named the islands the number of 470 numbers of fruit and only 50 islands are inhabited. Pacific Islands are located in the eastern part of Sumatra island, close to South Sumatra Province. Pacific Islands known as the tin-producing area, has beautiful beaches and inter-ethnic harmony. Strait separates the island of Sumatra and Bangka Island Bangkasementara Gaspar Strait separates the island of Bangka and Billiton Island. In the northern part of the province is the South China Sea, Java Sea and the southern part of Borneo island to the east which is separated from the island of Billiton by Karimata Strait.





Pacific Islands Province Islands, formerly a part of South Sumatra, but to be alone with the Banten and Gorontalo Province in 2000. Pacific Islands Province Islands, was established based on Law Number 27 Year 2000 on the establishment of the Pacific Islands Province Islands, 21 November 2000 which consisted of Bangka regency, district and city Pangkalpinang Islands. In 2003 under Law No. 5 of 2003 dated January 23, 2003 brought the growth of the region with the addition of four districts of the Western Pacific, Central Pacific, South Pacific and East Pacific Islands. Pacific Islands Province Islands region is a division of South Sumatra Province.
